Course Info
Located in beautiful Belmont Shore and along the ocean, the swim course is in calm waters and the run course is flat, fast and scenic!
Swim:
The typical water temperature in Long Beach in July is 64-66 degrees. Water conditions are excellent and very safe. There are no waves inside the breakwater where the swim takes place. Wetsuits are allowed for the 1 mile, 1/2 mile and Aquathlon. 5K swimmers will not be able to wear wetsuits according to USA Swimming regulations. The course is rectangular and located on the east side of the Belmont Pier. The 1/2 mile swim will do 1/2 lap, the 1 mile will do 1 lap and the 5K will complete 3 laps of the course.
Run:
The run is along bike path adjacent to the Belmont Pier with a view of the Queen Mary the entire way.
King/Queen of the Beach:
The King/Queen of the Beach has three phases. The event starts with a quick swim around the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier. The next segment of the race is a run to the (Long Beach-Seal Beach) jetty approximately 2 miles in soft sand. Participants will then pick up their boards and paddle back to the pier for the third and final phase of the competition.
Aquathlon Transition Area:
Beach area just east of the Belmont Pier. The transition area will be utilized by the Aquathlon participants only.
